A launch pad is an elevated structure used for the vertical launch of rocket-powered missiles or spacecraft. The phrase “launch pad” can refer to either the entire complex (launch complex) or just the main launch platform (mobile launcher platform). The entire complex will consist of a launch mount or launch platform to hold the vehicle in place, a service building with umbilicals, and the infrastructure needed to supply propellants, cryogenic fluids, electrical power, communications, telemetry, rocket assembly, payload processing, storage facilities for propellants and gases, equipment, access roads, and drainage.
The majority of launch pads have fixed service structures that offer one or more access platforms for vehicle assembly, inspection, and maintenance as well as access to the spacecraft for crew loading. the tee
